Abuelita’s was opened in 1984 in Bernalillo by Christopher Romero. He was the founder and creator of our signature dish, the Tacopilla. After his sudden death, his mother, Lucy Romero, took over the small but steadily growing business. The current establishment is owned and operated by his daughter, Rubi and her husband, Kevin Lozoya.
Over the years many families have donated photos of their own Abuelitas, which now grace the walls of the restaurant.
